FAQs

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people come because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected in their relationships, or simply want to understand themselves more clearly. If something in your life or relationships isn't sitting well, it's worth exploring.

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. I'll want to understand what has brought you here, what you're hoping for, and learn a little about you and your relationships. There's no pressure to have everything figured out—we simply begin where you are.
-
There isn't a set number of sessions. The first two sessions will include assessment to help us be clear about your family of origin influences and the history of your relationship or other difficulty. Some people come for a short period to work through a specific issue, while others value having support over a longer time as they create lasting change. Together, we'll regularly review what feels most helpful.

Rather than telling you what to do, I work alongside you to help you think more clearly, understand yourself and your relationships more deeply, and make decisions that align with your values. My aim is to help you develop greater confidence in your own thinking. I do help clients with ideas and thinking that is more invitational eg managing nervous system and some concepts or interventions for understanding self more clearly.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I kindly ask that you provide at least one business day's notice.
Appointments scheduled for a Monday need to be cancelled or rescheduled by the same appointment time on the preceding Friday.
Cancellations made with less than one business day's notice will incur the full consultation fee. If you are unable to attend in person, a Telehealth (Zoom) appointment is usually available and can often be arranged instead.
I understand that genuine emergencies do arise and, where appropriate, these will not incur a cancellation fee (unless cancellations become recurring).
This policy allows me to offer appointments to people on my waiting list and reflects the time I spend preparing thoughtfully for each session.
